What can Counselling  and Hypnotherapy help with?

  • Abuse. Abuse can be either physical, Verbal, sexual or emotional and can affect how you see yourself (self-esteem). Individuals can become isolated as a result of the abuse.
  • Addiction. It is possible to become addicted to anything. An addiction is the ability not to be able to control doing something or taking something to the point that it causes you problems and may become harmful.
  • Anxiety. This is the body's natural response to stress. However, anxiety can become a problem when it stops you doing everyday things, when you begin to worry about it or when it goes on for a long time.
  • Bereavement and loss (Counselling only). Grief is a natural process and although it is unpleasant individuals need to work through the process. In some cases though counselling can be helpful to explore the feelings that a bereaved person is left with as well as the change of role and identity that can happen when we lose a loved one or when we suffer a loss of some other kind.
  • Bad habits.A bad habit is a behaviour that you do automatically and without thinking, that you no longer want to do. Hypnotherapy can help by looking at creating a new behaviour to replace the old behaviour or by looking at why you can't stop the bad habit, what causes you to do it and then through hypnotherapy, develop new strategies or new habits and behaviours.   • Couples Counselling (Counselling only). All relationships can struggle and go through difficult patches from time to time. If this sounds familiar then couples counselling may be able to help you to examine what isn't going well within your relationship as well as what is going well, and then gives you the time and space to reflect on how you feel and  your patterns of behaviour and responses to each other.
  • Depression. From time to time people can feel sad, down or low but if you feel like this regularly and for a period of time then you may benefit from talking through the causes of these feelings. Even if you don't know why you feel like this counselling can help you.

  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Also see my blog.This is a common condition of the digestive system and can cause bouts of stomach cramps, bloating, diarrhoea and constipation. 
  • Low self-esteem. This is the way that you feel about yourself. For example if you repeatedly don't feel that your are good enough or you are constantly criticising yourself or you feel that others are constantly criticising you.
  • OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). According to OCD-UK, OCD is "where someone experiences frequent, intrusive, and unwelcome obsessional thoughts, often followed by repetitive compulsions, impulses or images". Most people think of OCD as extreme repetitive behaviour which they need to do before going on to do something else. Counselling can help the individual to talk through the way they feel, the possible causes of OCD and helps them to explore different ways of thinking, acting and feeling.
  • Panic attacks.  Panic attacks can be very frightening and are the body's exaggerated response to fear, stress and anxiety. Counselling and/or hypnotherapy can be useful if treating and helping people to deal with and overcome panic attacks.
  • Phobias (Hypnotherapy only).  Phobias are a reaction to something and can cause anxiety and panic. If they are affecting your life and you find yourself avoiding things or you are living your life around them, then seek help. Hypnotherapy can help to identify the causes and can help you overcome the phobia.   • Post Natal Depression. This is something that I have experienced following the birth of my son and I will be writing about my experiences soon so keep an eye on my blog. Don't be afraid to seek help and support and if babysitters are a problem then counselling sessions can be arranged via a webcam at a time to fit you. 
  • Relationships. Our relationships with others can be a source of stress and anxiety. This can be because we worry about their behaviour or because we are constantly trying to please others. Some may people may also be bully's or are being bullied. Whatever the issue is I can help you deal with your feelings and support you while you find solutions to your problems.
  • Self-harm. Self-harm can be a taboo subject. I have worked with people who self-harm as well as those who have friends or family who self-harm. So no matter which category you fall into if you need help and support then get in touch. You will be treated in confidence and you will not be judged.
  • Stop Smoking (Hypnotherapy only)

    . Also see my blog if you ever wondered what smoking can do to you. Depending on your reasons for smoking and for wanting to quit, hypnotherapy can help you to break the habit and replace it with healthier habits of your choosing. 
  • Stress. Lots of people experience stress and some are better at dealing with it than others. Stress can be felt for a short period of time or for longer periods and each person will deal with it differently. However if you find yourself under constant stress for a prolonged period of time and are unable to find ways to relieve it then you may also experience pain in the form of headaches, neck pain, stomach ache, back pain as well as other physical symptoms and insomnia. Learning relaxation techniques, talking through the issues and developing other coping strategies can all help. 
  • Suicidal thoughts. I have worked with clients who have had suicidal thoughts and through working on their confidence, self-esteem and allowing them the space and time to speak freely they have arrived at a more positive point in their life, instead of feeling overwhelmed by negative thoughts. Don't be frightened to admit what you feel get in touch and seek help.
